Research Summary

Mes travaux de recherche portent sur les propriétés fonctionnelles des neurones du système auditif central. Plusieurs axes peuvent être dégagés :

  • Axe 1
    Propriétés non pathologiques
    L’étude des propriétés fonctionnelles du système auditif adulte n’ayant pas subi d’altération particulière (i.e. traumas acoustiques, vieillissement…). J’ai notamment étudié l’influence de la durée d’un signal acoustique sur les propriétés de décharges des neurones du cortex auditif, tant d’un point de vu d’un petit groupe de neurones que d’une population bien plus large répartie sur l’ensemble du cortex auditif (Occelli et al 2015).
  • Axe 2
    Vieillissement du système auditif
    L’étude de l’évolution des propriétés fonctionnelles des neurones du cortex auditif avec l’âge. J’ai notamment étudier l’impact du vieillissement sur la robustesse des réponses évoquées à des signaux de communication acoustiques par les neurones du cortex auditif primaires. Mais aussi leur capacité de détection de silence introduit dans des vocalisations (Occelli et al, unpublished data).

    Impact des bruits de la vie quotidienne
    L’étude des effets d’une exposition à long-terme à un milieu bruyant d’une intensité modérée sur l’audiogramme et les propriétés fonctionnelles des neurones du cortex auditif primaire. J’ai étudié l’influence d’une exposition, 8h/j à un bruit mimant les sons des environnements quotidiens, durant la majorité de la vie adulte. Mes analyses se sont portées notamment sur l’influence possible sur la robustesse et la précision des réponses neuronales du cortex auditif primaire à des signaux de communication acoustique conspécifiques et hétérospécifiques (Occelli et al, unpublished data).
